We aim to foster a friendly, open, welcoming, and safe space for our users and member organisations. By signing-up to be a member of CONNECT, you agree to commit to this code of conduct and behave responsibly and respectfully. Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action.
Below we outline our expectations for members of the CONNECT community, our values and commitments to you as a user, as well as details on how to report issues.
Community Behaviour and Expectations
1.1 Profile creation, content, and authenticity
You are an individual or representative of an organisation creating a profile on that organisation’s behalf
You are of minimum 16 years of age
You will use your real name and/or business trading name.
You will not impersonate another person or organisation, or otherwise misrepresent yourself
If you choose to upload a profile picture, it will be of yourself or a representative avatar / approved organisation logo - you will not upload a picture of someone else
Please do not use your “Elevator pitch / Bio”, or the “Opportunities” and “Events” sections to promote or share spam, scams, or misleading information and imagery. This includes:
Manipulative or misleading generative AI imagery that falsely represents known people
Deepfakes
Thumbnails, copy, and headlines deliberately designed as clickbait
If at any time you are found to breach any or all of the above, your access to the CONNECT platform will be removed and your account deleted.
1.2 Professionalism
CONNECT serves both professional and non-professional members of the film community, from seasoned pros to emerging talent. We expect all of our users to interact on CONNECT in a way that reflects the best of what this industry has to offer. Here’s how you can show professionalism on our platform:
Keep it respectful: Whether you’re updating your bio, reaching out to a potential collaborator, or mentoring another user, kindness and respect should always come first. Treat others the way you’d want to be treated
Communicate clearly: When posting an event, opportunity, a bio update or tagline, make sure your words are clear, easy to understand, and you’ve provided as much detail as possible.
Honor Your Commitments: If you agree to collaborate with or provide services or mentoring to a connection on the platform, follow through. Reliability goes a long way in building trust and mutually beneficial connections.
1.3 Tolerance and inclusivity:
We expect our users to be mindful, respectful and inclusive in the language they use on the CONNECT platform and in their interactions with other users. We will not condone:
Racist, sexist, homophobic, or transphobic language
Hate speech, violent, or threatening language
Any slurs, insults, or degrading comments targeting someone’s race, gender, religion, disability, socio-economic background, or other personal characteristics
Stereotyping or perpetuating harmful biases
Exclusionary Behavior: Refusing to work or engage with someone based on their identity or background
Use of any such language or behaviour will result in disciplinary action. We reserve the right to remove your access to the platform and delete your account.
1.4 Protect privacy and respect copyright:
Respect the confidentiality and intellectual property of other members.
Do not upload, display or link to work that is not your own without clear and correct accreditation and clear disclosure that the work does not belong to you.
Do not share or post copyrighted material that is not your own.
Never share sensitive personal information like bank details, passwords, or home addresses on the platform.
Share information relevant to the community and avoid posting anything you wouldn’t want associated with your career or public profile.
1.5 Compliance:
Please abide by all platform rules, terms of use, and applicable laws.

How We Handle Violations
2.1 Immediate Action:
Violations of the CONNECT code of conduct are taken very seriously and will be reviewed by our team within 48 hours.
2.2 Consequences:
Violations of the CONNECT code of conduct are reviewed on a case by case basis and can lead to either:
A written warning
A suspension of the account (the user can still browse the platform, but is not able to connect with other users, upload an event or opportunity, or otherwise interact with the platform)
Permanent removal from the platform and the account deleted.
2.3 How to report a violation
If you see or experience anything that goes against our values, please contact us at hello@cinetopia.co.uk and one of our team will review your email within 72 hours.
